Log Home Gasket Tape is closed-cell, medium density (8 lb.) PVC foam with pressure-sensitive adhesive on one side. Gasket Tape provides a high performance seal against dust, light, air and moisture.
Install Log Home Gasket Tape between log courses during construction to form a uniform seal between the logs. It is flexible and maintains a seal during seasoning of the logs. Log Home Gasket Tape stays pliable from -5°F to 170°F. Gasket Tape is compatible with Shell-Guard and Armor-Guard.
Log Home Gasket Tape is 3/8" thick and available in widths of 3/8", 1/2" and 1" in 25-foot rolls. Consult your log home manufacturer for the correct size for your log package.
Backer Rod is extruded closed-cell polyethylene rod that is used in cracks, checks and gaps before filling them with sealants such as Perma-Chink, Energy Seal and Check Mate 2. Caulk joints should not be more than 3/8” thick and Backer Rod provides a way to fill a deep crevice or gap while maintaining the proper sealant thickness for maximum performance. Backer Rod should also be used in checks over 1/4” wide before applying Check Mate 2.
Grip Strip is chemically inert closed-cell polyethylene that is shaped to fit between log courses to form a flat surface for the application of Perma-Chink or Energy Seal. This makes it easier to maintain a consistent thickness of sealant across the seam, reducing the amount of sealant required and improving the sealant’s performance.
Use with Blaster Buddy and a commercial air compressor for a "dry" method of finish removal.
50lb bag covers approx. 75-200 sq. feet.

Armor-Guard is a concentrated borate powder wood preservative that is effective at inhibiting wood rot and pests such as termite, wood boring beetles, and carpenter ants. Armor-Guard is fine grained and can be used in its powder form or dissolved fully into water and then applied by brush or spray to bare wood. Armor-Guard protects uninfested wood from wood decay and wood destroying insects. All wood surfaces should be clean before applying borate wood preservatives.
While your log or timber home is being constructed, the edges of crawl spaces, open stud wall cavities, and flooring where base cabinetry will be located will benefit from Armor-Guard treatment in powder form. The powder will stay in those locations long-term and kill cockroaches, carpenter ants, and other wood insects. Armor-Guard powder will still come in handy long after construction is completed as it can be sprinkled into checks and voids before they are sealed.
When Armor-Guard is dissolved into water it can be sprayed onto wood, controlling insect activity and wood decay by diffusing deep into the wood's fibers. Armor-Guard is a very low-toxicity alternative to highly volatile chemical pesticides that can be hazardous to both humans and pets.
(Armor-Guard is not available in Canada)
Cobra™ Rods are a way to spot treat decay prone areas such as log ends that are already coated with a finish.
Once inserted into damp or wet wood, a borate and copper complex in Cobra Rods dissolves and then spreads the active ingredients to the area surrounding the rod. This eliminates active decay fungi and helps prevent rot for 8 to 10 years.
Cobra Rods are 7/16" in diameter and are two inches in length. A 1/2" diameter drill bit is used for installation. The installation holes may be plugged with the accompanying plastic plugs or Energy Seal.
A typical six to eight inch round log end will require two 2” long Cobra Rods inserted within 4 inches of the butt end.
Cobra™ Rods are a trademark of Genics Inc., Spruce Grove, Alberta Canada
Mold on a log home or cabin is the precursor to decay and rot. Mold is not only unsightly, but it can lead to rotten logs that may need to be replaced. When added to a final coat of Lifeline Advance, Mildew-X (formerly Stay Clean) provides added protection against mold, mildew, and algae. Mildew-X is a mildewcide additive that is easily mixed into either a single gallon or 5-gallon pails. Mildew-X will not affect the color or performance of any Lifeline stain. Made from environmentally friendly materials, Mildew-X has no VOCs or harsh odors.
UV Boost is a concentrated water-based liquid stain additive that contains a new technology ultraviolet light inhibitor.
Some regions of the country such as the Southeast, Southwest and higher altitude areas are subject to high intensity sunlight. Over time the ultraviolet light in sunlight darkens the lignin component of wood.
When added to the first coat on bare wood of any Lifeline wood finish, UV Boost combines with the lignin to delay the wood beneath the stain from graying. Since the concentration of the active components differ, be sure to use the appropriate size for the amount of stain or finish you are using.
Log End Seal is a clear finish that is designed to protect exposed log ends from deterioration due to the elements. The end-grain of your logs are particularly vulnerable to checking and absorbing water, and can act like tiny straws, drawing excessive moisture into the wood. Log End Seal provides a durable, water-repellent barrier against sun, rain, snow and ice.
For use exclusively with Lifeline wood finishes.
One coat of Prelude Clear Wood Primer fills the pores of the wood and provides a surface that enables you to obtain a more uniform finish color over the entire home. Prelude is ideal for both interior and exterior wood surfaces.
Prelude Clear Wood Primer also contains UV Boost for added UV protection. Prelude is a primer and should never be used as a final finish.
