Safe and Effective Finish Remover

S-100 Finish Remover is an environmentally friendly water-based solvent that removes many oil and water-borne finishes from logs, siding, and decks. Perma-Chink Systems developed a finish remover using new technology originally developed for removing paint from aluminum aircraft surfaces.

Supplied as a ready-to-use gel, it is easily applied with a short bristled brush, paint roller, or airless sprayer. Within a few minutes it begins to soften the finish and since it is a gel, it stays wet and active for a fairly long period of time. Once the finish has sufficiently softened, it can be removed by simply pressure washing.

S-100 will not darken or discolor the wood, will not corrode or discolor metal surfaces, nor will it harm log home chinking or sealants. Although it is effective for removing most log home finishes, there are some high performance coatings that may require a more aggressive chemical stripper. Perma-Chink Systems recommends that a sample of S-100 be obtained from them and tested on the finish you want to remove prior to placing an order.

Surface Prep Cleaner for Cedar

Cedar Wash is a Ready-to-Use cleaner specifically formulated for preparing the bare wood surface of wood species that contain high levels of wood extractives and resin oils. Cedar Wash is designed to remove surface resin oils and high concentrations of water-soluble wood extractives in addition to dirt, grease, grime, pollen, and surface stains without harming the wood.

We highly recommended Cedar Wash as a cleaner for Southern Pine, Douglas Fir, Spruce and Cypress logs.

Iron Stain Treatment

Oxcon (oxalic acid concentrate) is the only effective treatment for rust stains from around nails, spikes, and screws.

Oxcon comes as a concentrate that is diluted with water prior to use. It is best applied using a garden type pump-up sprayer but a brush or broom will also work. Apply a liberal amount to the wood, let it work on the surface for 10 to 15 minutes and rinse it thoroughly with clean water.

Oxcon should not be used for spot cleaning since it may cause blotching of the surface.

Wood Restoration Cleaner

Wood ReNew is a biodegradable percarbonate-based wood cleaner that cleans and brightens grayed and weathered wood. Use it to return wood to its original natural color before applying any of our quality wood finishes.

Wood ReNew contains a thickener that helps it adhere to log walls and siding. Simply mix the Wood ReNew concentrate with water, stir, and liberally apply it to the wood with a mop or brush.

Wood ReNew will immediately begin to fizz and foam as it removes dirt and grime. After about 10 minutes scrub the wood with a medium-bristle brush and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Dirt, stains from mold and mildew, water stains, and UV damage will be gone and the wood will have a new, fresh look.

Wood ReNew should not be used for spot cleaning since it may cause blotching of the surface.

Low pH Wood Cleaner

Log Wash is a liquid concentrate for cleaning log and wood surfaces. It can be used as a maintenance cleaner or to prepare the surface of wood for a new coat of stain or topcoat.

For preparing the surface of bare wood for a new coat of stain, Log Wash removes dirt, grime, pollen, and surface stains without harming the wood or the finish. As opposed to bleach solutions, Log Wash does not upset the natural pH balance of the wood, thus preventing wood fiber damage and iron tannate stains. The exterior of a log home is a settling ground for dust, pollen and other airborne contaminants that dull the surface and encourage mold growth. A light cleaning once or twice a year will keep a home looking beautiful and helps prolong the life of the exterior wood finish.

Borate-Glycol Wood Preservative

As you look for ways to protect your investment in a home, cabin, deck, barn or other wooden structure, look no further than Shell-Guard RTU ( Ready-To-Use) borate-based wood preservative. Shell-Guard RTU protects wood from its natural enemies: insects, fungi, mold and moisture. Like Shell-Guard Concentrate, Shell-Guard RTU is colorless, odorless, has a very low level of toxicity to people and pets and is just as effective for preventing wood decay and insect damage to interior and exterior wood members. Shell-Guard RTU is labeled for the control of termites, wood boring beetles, carpenter ants and wood decay fungi.

Since it is ready-to-use, you can pour it right out of the container into your sprayer without the fuss of measuring, mixing and stirring.

Besides its convenience, other advantages to Shell-Guard RTU include its stability and relatively quick drying time. Your logs will be ready to stain within one to three days after a Shell-Guard RTU application.

An application of Shell-Guard RTU is permanent as long as the wood remains protected with Lifeline stains.

Borate-Glycol Wood Preservative

Shell-Guard provides the ultimate protection against insects and wood rot for your log home. This new generation of preservative combines the well-known effectiveness of borates with a glycol system that increases the penetration into the wood to enhance the action of the borate.

Shell-Guard is colorless and odorless. The glycols used are the same type as those found in many food and skin care products.

Shell-Guard is a concentrate that is mixed with an equal amount of water, then applied to bare wood with a brush or as a spray. Once in the wood, it will kill those insects that eat wood such as wood boring beetles and termites. It also kills the types of fungi that are responsible for rot and decay. Shell-Guard makes wood toxic to wood destroying organisms!

The best thing about Shell-Guard is that one application will last the life of your home as long as the exterior surfaces are maintained with a quality, water resistant stain such as Lifeline.

One-Coat Deck Finish

Deck Defense is the best wood stain for your decks, rails and fences. It has been engineered for better performance, longer life, and easier application. Water-Based Poly Finish

Since it is water based and fast drying, multiple coats can be applied in a single day. Sure Shine can be used to re-coat older oil based floor finishes. Lifeline Interior breathes to allow trapped moisture to evaporate from logs. The addition of UV Boost to the first coat of Lifeline Interior significantly reduces the ‘picture frame effect’ in sun-exposed locations.

Lifeline Interior will not yellow. You can apply multiple coats to develop the color and film thickness that you desire. Lifeline Interior is completely compatible with our other interior finish options.
