productsIn 1981 Perma-Chink Systems (PCS) introduced flexible chinking to the log home industry to replace what was the standard at the time - concrete mortar. This revolutionary product, Perma-Chink Log Home Chinking, looked like authentic mortar but stretched and flexed to accommodate log movement while maintaining a tight seal for the life of the house.

Although PCS is the largest manufacturer of log home chinking and sealants, we make a complete line of quality wood care products. Wood Finishes, Wood Preservatives, Wood Cleaners and Restoration Products all are Made in the U.S.A.

Perma-Chink Systems is the log home building industry's trusted partner for the tightest, greenest, and most impeccably finished log homes in the world.

Exterior Inspection

When inspecting the general exterior of the building, look for:

  1. Landscape plants within 36 inches of exterior walls. Landscaping tips.
  2. Gutters & down spouts everywhere in good working order.
  3. Check for decaying wood within 12 inches of (or especially in contact with) ground.
  4. Wood piles at least 18 inches away from house.
  5. General patterns of fading of the finish.
  6. Look more carefully at areas that are most exposed to weather. South- and West-facing walls usually receive more sun exposure. Walls facing prevailing winds are exposed to more rain.
  7. Pay special attention to all logs and ends extending to or beyond roof overhangs.
  8. Make sure that no sprinkler directs water at the wall. Including water patterns on windy days!

Check for weathering patterns that can include:

  • Fading of the finish.
  • Water staining on exposed log ends.
  • Water staining on exposed walls.

Customer Testimony

I'm a log homeowner who stands behind Perma-Chink's chinking, Lifeline stains, Advance topcoat, Log End Seal, Energy Seal, and every other product offered. My logs are hand-hewed with the original style chinking so we used I think 25 pails of chinking and none of it has failed. The chinking is tops, stain is very durable and easy to apply. The entire staff at Perma-Chink Systems always goes the extra mile when I call and ask questions or for advice. Perma-Chink has the best customer service of any company period in all types of industries I interact with. Unbelievable!!

What Our Customers Say About Us

Find A Contractor

We offer an extensive referral list of log home contractors from coast to coast. Most of these contractors are self-employed and none are affiliated with Perma-Chink Systems, but they do have both experience and training in using our products on log and timber homes. Many of the contractors we've worked with for years, and we continually review our referral list to provide our customers with the best available log home contractors. Obviously, you’ll want to interview the contractors yourself to determine their reliability, reputation, and experience, as well as their procedures that best meet your individual needs.
