Log Boss

Durable Timber Fastener for Superior Strength

Heavy logs need more than a standard wood screw to draw them together and hold each in place. Log Boss provides the strength and grip required during log and timber construction.

Perma-Chink Systems designed this log fastener specifically for structures built with large wood components. A three-inch threaded section grabs the wood as the fastener moves into position, while the larger shank adds pulling strength.

Wings along the shank help clear wood splinters and reduce friction during installation. Less resistance means lower driving torque, even when difficult logs need to be pulled tightly into place.

Product Information

Log and Timber Home construction once relied heavily on spikes and lag bolts. Each timber fastener simplifies the job by driving directly into the wood without a washer or pre-drilled hole.

The flat head settles below the surface as it tightens, leaving the hardware out of the way once the logs are secured. A protective Teflon® coating helps resist corrosion after installation.

Features

  • Pre-drilling is not required
  • No washer needed. Drive it one time and forget it!
  • Flat head design easily countersinks with maximum pulling power
  • Replaces the need for spikes or lag bolts
  • Lubrication coating speeds set time
  • Large threads prevent stripping out
  • Teflon® coating exceeds FM 4470 corrosion standards

How to Store

Keep unused timber fasteners in their original box after the job. A dry shelf or enclosed work area is all you need. Each protects the hardware between projects. Close partially used boxes before storage to keep dirt and jobsite debris away from the threads.

Application Tips

A 5/16-inch driver fits the timber screw hex head and provides the control needed to set Log Boss into the wood. The wings clear splinters along the way, while the lubrication coating reduces resistance as the fastener moves deeper.

Continue driving until the flat head countersinks into the wood. One pass secures the fastener without a washer.

Maintenance

Log Boss stays in place once construction is complete. The Teflon® coating protects the log fastener against corrosion, while the countersunk head remains below the wood surface. No routine adjustment is required after the logs are secured.

Future repairs or renovations may expose the original hardware. Check its condition at that point before deciding whether the fastener should remain in place.

I am a professional log home Applicator in TN, and Grip Strip is the perfect product for insulating and caulking in the sides of windows, doors, and eaves that have a big gap. I would not want to caulk or chink a house without it!

The bulk loading gun is a GREAT tool! It took a little getting used to, but once we got it down, we cruised right across the walls. My wife and a friend on the spatulas and me on the gun got the house done lots quicker than we thought we could.

I sanded my entire log house with 6″ Osborn nylon cup brushes on an angle grinder last summer and applied Ultra-7 from your Rice, MN, store with great results.
