Log Gap Cap Foam Insert to Seal Doors and Windows in Log Homes
The Log Gap Cap™ reduces air infiltration where round logs meet window and door trim. Though designed to work with 6″ to 10″ diameter logs, the Log Gap Cap’s uniform shape fits most log profiles. With an easy scissor cut along the flat side, they work in log siding applications. The material is resistant to mold, rot, bacteria, and will not absorb moisture.
Log Gap Cap Available Sizes
We offer two sizes of Log Gap Caps based on the common sized logs used for log home construction. Small caps are 2″ wide at the “peak” and 3/4″ thick. Large caps are 3″ wide at the “peak” and 1″ thick.

Insert Log Gap Cap into the crevice using trowel.

Remove masking tape as soon as tooling is complete.

Do I need to use backing material?
Yes. For proper adhesion and elasticity of sealants, backing materials should be used. Read more here.
Can I use any foam for backing?
No. The wrong foam, like pink or blue colored foam, will “out-gas” and cause blisters in sealants.
How do I smooth out my sealant?
For a smooth finish, spray the sealant with water and smooth it using a metal spatula. You can learn more about the process of tooling here.
