The space between log courses needs a seal as the walls go up. Log home gaskets fit between the logs during construction. The adhesive backing holds the tape in place before the next course is set. The closed-cell foam compresses.
With a consistent barrier, you can prevent drafts and moisture. It stays flexible while the logs season, accommodating movement within the wall. Once construction is complete, the tape remains inside the joint, out of sight.

Product Information
Log home gaskets are made from medium-density, 8 lb. PVC foam. They remain pliable from -5°F to 170°F, a useful range for a material that stays inside the wall after construction.

How to Store
A box of tape might sit while the crew works on another part of the build. Leave the unused rolls inside, in a dry spot. Keep lumber and other heavy materials off the box. This keeps the rolls ready to uncoil when work resumes.
Application Process
Clean and dry the upper surface of each course before adhering gasket tape. Remove loose material and check for wax or oil where the adhesive will contact the wood.
Place the tape along that surface for each wall stack, following the log package manufacturer’s placement instructions.
Press the adhesive side onto the log, then check the run before lowering the next course. A gap or displaced section is much easier to correct while the joint is still open.
Maintenance
The tape is concealed once the wall is built. There is no exposed strip to clean or recoat. During normal home upkeep, pay attention to drafts along a log course or damp areas that return after rain.
Check the visible joints and surrounding wood if you detect an issue. For recurring problems, identify the entry point before repair. Hidden gasket tape is only one part of the wall’s sealing system.
