How to Store
Tubes with remaining material should be capped securely before storing. Store in a temperature controlled, dry place to preserve remaining log cabin sealant between uses. Exposure to freezing conditions or excessive heat reduces its usable life.
Application Tips
Checks between ¼ inch and 1 inch wide should be filled to approximately ⅜ inch in thickness. Use a backer rod where needed to control depth.
The material will be much lighter coming out of the tube than when it’s fully dried. Avoid applying to wood when it’s under strong, direct sunlight as the material may dry too quickly or unevenly.
Maintenance
Routine inspections make life easier. A quarterly schedule helps pinpoint small repairs before they become larger projects. Walk around the home periodically throughout the year. Look for sealed areas that have experienced unusual movement or physical damage due to severe weather.
