Here is my story! we live in eastern Kansas-south of KC 50 miles. Not a lot of log homes back here-but my father lives in central Idaho-- friends in southern Missouri both have log homes. I have spent a lot of time in your country so I am very familiar with log homes, chinking and different coating products.

We built our ranch style home 20 years ago and used cedar lap siding on it. needless to say it was literally falling off by 09' so here is what we did. a friend in Idaho owns a saw mill and I had him cut a whole load of fir into full 2" x 10" boards. we hauled them back to Kansas, ricked the up and dried them for 6-8 months. After they had properly dried I started the process of precutting everything to fit the house, following that we stained all sides of each board- and then applied 3 coats of your sealer to ALL sides of each board. After they were all installed we put one more top coat on the outside surface and then started the chinking process. I will tell you that I was dreading this part--however you sent me the stuff in 5 gal. pails-- used a bulk gun--and the disc to fill the gun. IT WAS SIMPLE!! We are very proud of what the final product has turned out.

My opinion is that you have the BEST product out there. the water base stuff was so much easier to deal with but when it dried its thick--shines and to this day there is no where on my house that needs any attention. Back here we have to deal with major humidity. By sealing all sides of every board the sealer has kept anything from cracking or checking. I have just watched my friend have a contractor restore his cabin. sandblast, re chink and refinish the entire cabin. Holy cow- I can only think that if he would have used Perma chink products he still might have a fat billfold. anyway thanks for your product. I know where to go when its time for a little touch up.. have a great day.

I've received the samples you sent and have been playing with them.  I cannot put into words how impressed I am with the few I've already tried!!! Even on "old" weathered wood!! The richness of the stains (have used a few of the Lifeline Ultra-7 stains and topcoat) have blown me away and is building the confidence to tackle our log home! I'm trying out a few of the stain strippers today but had to let you know, rather than dreading this project alone, I now look forward to it! I tried to call your TN office but think they're closed today so I'll try them again on Monday.

Last year the only thing we did was switch from a flat finish to a semi-gloss top coat. The stain we initially used has performed well with very little pealing or fading. P.S.  I am enclosing photographs of the chinking project still in progress, as well as an article that was recently written about me and my "house project."  Like many Montana homes that were built to entice Homesteaders, my house has an 1800s era log cabin as part of its original structure.  I have been carefully working on this restoration/remodel project for the past 15 years and was thrilled when I uncovered the hand-hewn logs hidden behind the old lathe and plaster. From the very beginning, you walked us through the order of the steps to be taken. Such as getting batch numbers for Prelude and Sequoia stain. Explaining which product was necessary for the next step and why that product was needed. Saying how precisely to apply it, while also answering questions about daily weather and heat conditions, etc.

We felt free to call you any time of the day when we had questions. You were always thoughtful and thorough in your answers, in addition to being extremely friendly and encouraging to us for such a labor intensive and expensive project. You helped us to understand why Perma-Chink was the best choice, even if not the least expensive option.

When we needed to test products, you called your office in Stevensville and had free samples sent to us by the next day. You also helped us to understand how our Rocky Mountain weather conditions would affect how we used the products at high altitudes, with very dry and hot weather and intense UV light. These are all different from conditions in Kentucky, where it can be humid, where dry rot is not a problem and where extreme direct sunlight is not necessarily the name of the game. You helped us to identify and sort through all the various parameters to successfully carry out the project so that it would last for many years in the future. We will keep up the Log Washing each year and apply Advance in two years as you explained to us how to test this on different sides of the house.

We also want to thank you for helping us to use a multi-step process in a way that was under warrantee and accomplished precisely what we needed to do according to weather and product requirements.

"Why I decided to use Perma-Chink on my log house...

I decided that I would pay the extra money to refinish our ten year old log home the right way, but I was not willing to spend money wihout making sure I would get the most for it.

When I visited Perma-Chinks web page I found they offered samples and decided that I would give them a try. I also found some samples at a local home supply store for another well known product for Log homes and another major paint/stain supplier with a good reputation.

Once received I followed the instructions given on the samples for all three companies. I treated sections of logs with all three products and let them sit for over a year, along with the rest of the wall untreated.

On the Perma-Chink test logs I first applied Wood ReNew, filled the checks and jonts with CheckMate 2 and then two coats of Lifeline Exterior stain on one log and one coat on the other. Once nice and dry I finished with two coats of Iifeline Advance on one log and one coat on the other, and walked away.

Now that the logs have been exposed through all four seasons I have inspected the work and decided on your product. Good product - The samples made it happen. Now the job begins."

"Our log home was built in 1979 and four years ago we had to call back our dealer for help in replacing a few rotted logs (bad roof overhang design system). We had been using various sealents on the market over those near 20 years with no success. Our dealer, Matt Kinlock, introduced us to the product line of Permachink. We have been a believer in your product line since. We have used Energy Seal, Lifeline Exterior and Lifeline Advance.

Our house had never had the "chinking"; it just had the regular milled logs stacked with the spline, gasket and 2 beads of caulking. With Desert Tan Energy Seal and the Dark Honey Exterior stain, we have transformed our plain little house into a beauty. What a differnce your products have made!

"After attending a product seminar at your Victor location and obtaining valuable information, we began the restoration. Starting with the interior second floor, we stripped, stained, sealed and chinked. The result was gratifying. We next moved to the exterior. Using the "Blaster-Buddy", and the glass media, the outside was stripped in a day with very little feathering of the wood. Again, staining, sealing and chinking followed.
